It all began with the age-old battle over the thermostat. You know the one. You are either too hot or too cold and those around you are the exact opposite. Well that same battle over the thermostat happens at the zoo too!
For over 20 years Rolling Hills Zoo’s small primates have shared quarters with rhinos and giraffes? This means that our lemurs, tamarins and capuchins have lived next to neighbors who are noisy and smelly for way too long!
And although this co-habitation has, for the most part, been amicable, there is one area in particular that they just cannot agree. The thermostat! Rhinos and giraffes like fresh air and don’t mind the cooler temperatures in the spring and fall. But our small primates like it tropical all year long! And so the argument wages on . . . .
This year won’t you help us resolve this argument once and for all? Our ZooLaLa Challenge will help us create enclosed spaces within the rhino barn where our primates can have it as warm as they like. There will be glass viewing inside the rhino barn for guests to enjoy the primates on those cooler days, as well as outdoor areas where they can enjoy the sunshine on warmer days and guests can enjoy them outdoors as well.
It’s time for the fight over the thermostat to be over. So stop monkeyin’ around and RSVP for ZooLaLa today!
Enjoy the Social Hour while bidding on the Silent Auction’s unique treasures, experience a very special animal encounter, and take a tram ride. Dinner will be served followed by our Live Auction and Challenge, both of which support our mission of igniting a passion for wildlife in wild places.
