We're honoring Earth Day at this year's Party for the Planet, as we raise awareness about the challenges that face our planet!

  • Get informed with Keeper Encounters throughout the day highlighting wildlife conservation efforts
  • Take away some great ideas at our Recycle | Reuse | Repurpose booths
  • Learn tips on how we can all do our part to help protect our planet
  • Get to know some of our Ambassador Animals at Animal Meet-&-Greets
  • We're getting a jump start on celebrating International Flamingo Day (April 26, 2024). Come "flamingle" with us with a special Keeper Chat at flamingos at 10 a.m.
  • Overlook Restaurant Special: $2 Hot Dogs, Corn Dogs & Nachos

We only have this one planet, and it's the one thing we all have in common. So, let's do our best to learn what we can do to preserve it and save our wildlife.

Here are the Keeper Chats & Animal Feeding Encounter for Party for the Planet:
  • 10 am - Flamingo Keeper Chat
  • 11 am - Camel & Highland Cow Animal Feeding Encounter ($)
  • 12 pm - African Lion (Oskar) Keeper Chat Inside Lion Cave at the training window
  • 1 pm - Ostrich Animal Feeding Encounter ($)
  • 2 pm - Sheep Shearing Demonstration at Kid's Country

This year we celebrate Party for the Planet in honor of those who have gone before us with a love for nature, wildlife and Rolling Hills Zoo.

Recycled Art Contest

As Part of Party for the Planet at Rolling Hills Zoo on April 20, 2024

New this year as part of our Party for the Planet celebration at Rolling Hills Zoo, creativity meets conservation! Enter our Wildly Reclaimed: Eco-Art Safari recycled art contest, showcasing your best eco-friendly masterpiece! During our Party for the Planet event, guests will vote for their favorite pieces while also having the opportunity to support wildlife conservation efforts.

Winners in each age category will not only gain awesome bragging rights, but will be awarded with exclusive animal encounters!

Let's make this year's Party for the Planet a celebration of art, community, all while showing our commitment to the planet.


50% of the artwork must be made from recycled and/or repurposed items.

  • Children: Ages 12 & Under
  • Youth: Ages 13 - 18
  • Adults: Ages 19 - 64
  • Seniors: Ages 65+

ARTWORK INFORMATION to be placed on the back of each piece of artwork:
  • Name of the artwork
  • Name of the artist
  • Age of the artist
  • Phone number
  • Email


All artwork entries are due by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024


Judging will be based on Peoples' Choice. All guests at Rolling Hills Zoo's Party for the Planet event on Saturday, April 20th will have the opportunity to vote with coins (pennies or higher) or dollar bills for their favorite artwork piece. One cent = 1 vote.

All money raised will go toward a reputable wildlife conservation organization (TBD)


Along with bragging rights, the winners in each age group will receive:

  • Children - Ambassador Animal Encounter
  • Youth Ambassador Animal Encounter
  • Adult - Animal Encounter
  • Senior - Animal Encounter

Art pieces can be picked up Sunday, April 21st - April 27th, between the hours of 9 am - 5 pm. All art pieces must be pick up by April 27, 2024!
