Become a vital part of the Rolling Hills Zoo team as a Maintenance Team Member! In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing buildings, exhibits, roads, equipment, vehicles, and utilities, ensuring the Zoo operates smoothly and safely for guests, staff, and animals.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Comply with all safety procedures, including the Lock Out/Tag Out system when entering or leaving animal exhibit areas
• Responsible for preparing trams for the day
• Responsible for regular service and maintenance of tractors and tram cars
• When necessary, will work outdoors with contractors
• Will participate in regular safety and maintenance inspections of Keeper and animal areas
• Will assist in the daily maintenance of Zoo grounds and buildings, including emptying trash cans, repairing broken welds, paint touch-up, and more
• Responsible for maintenance, repair & construction duties as determined by supervisor - sewer & water lines, welding of fencing, gates & exhibits, maintenance of buildings & exhibits, painting, maintain vehicles & tools
• Will assist other departments before, during, and after special events, after-hours events, Conference Center events, and other programs
• Along with the Maintenance and Landscape teams, will keep the shop, office, and restrooms clean on a weekly basis
• Will respond to maintenance calls as issues arise that are too urgent to be placed on a work order
• With the Maintenance Foreman, will work to complete items on the work order list

Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Capable of working in all weather conditions
• Must be able to operate a skid steer and other machinery
• Welding experience is a plus
• Background in maintenance and/or construction preferred
• Must be willing to expand knowledge of the maintenance and construction trade
• Must be a team-player
• Must be safety-conscious

Join the Rolling Hills Zoo team as a Horticulture Team Member! In this role, you'll collaborate with a dedicated team to design, install, and maintain the beautiful landscaping throughout the zoo, ensuring a welcoming and vibrant environment for our guests and wildlife.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Comply with all safety procedures, including the Lock Out/Tag Out system when entering or leaving animal exhibit areas
• Responsible for the safe and cautious use, and maintenance, of all equipment, tools and machinery
• Responsible for landscaping duties: seeding and reseeding lawns, design and install plant beds, maintenance of lawns including mowing, watering, fertilizing, aerating, weeding, pest control of trees, shrubs and plants, design & install sprinkler systems, maintain water fountains, install planter boxes and tree wells, research plant toxicity as it relates to animal collection,
• Work with Zoo Keepers to coordinate scheduling of landscaping duties
• Ensure the shop, office, and restrooms are cleaned on a weekly basis
• Provide assistance to other departments during special events, after-hours events, Conference Center events, and other programs.

Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills

• Landscape experience preferred
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Capable of working in all weather conditions
• Able to drive various equipment, including mowers and front-end loaders
• Willing to expand horticulture knowledge by research and self-study
• Must be a team-player
• Must commit to the Zoo's mission statement and core values
• Will perform duties in a service-oriented manner

• Maintains good work habits and adheres to all policies and procedures

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Bartending experience desired but will train
• Setting up and tearing down the Conference Center for events
• Serving food and beverage in the Conference Center
• Assisting with special events such as Zoo Brew and Pumpkin PaZoola
