Kids... Bundle up and get ready to explore the wild side of temperature! This winter, young explorers will become Zoo Detectives at Rolling Hills Zoo, as they investigate how cold-blooded and warm-blooded animals survive and thrive. Through hands-on activities, creative crafts, and close-up encounters with live animal ambassadors, campers will uncover the mysteries of creatures who love the chill and those who bask in the warmth.

Join us for all three days or pick your favorite session... And, don’t forget your coat, gloves, and hat!

DAILY THEMES

• DECEMBER 30, 2025: Skinks vs. Skunks
  Discover how skinks and skunks use color to blend in or stand out in the wild. Campers will explore how these bold hues help them survive through fun, hands-on science and creative art activities.

• DECEMBER 31, 2025: Western Hognose Snake vs. Virginia Opossum
  Meet two of nature’s best tricksters and learn how they use deception to stay safe. From dramatic “playing dead” to clever disguises, campers will uncover the wild world of animal imposters.

• JANUARY 2, 2026: Turtle vs. Armadillo
  Step into the world of armored animals and see how tough shells and plates help them thrive. Campers will compare the cold-blooded turtle and warm-blooded armadillo while enjoying creative crafts and up-close encounters.

REGISTRATION
Advanced registration is required! Must be registered by 4 days prior to camp date, so don't wait! Minimum amount of campers required for camp to take place. Limited space!

Please make sure your Zoo Detective dresses in warm, cold-weather attire!

• A Creative Craft
• Encounters with our Ambassador Animals

  • This one-hour add-on is perfect for campers who aren’t ready to leave, or for parents who need a little flexibility for pickup! Kids will get to color, craft or play, and enjoy a snack!
